My Bio
My counseling approach focuses on developing healthy stress management and emotional control skills, which are essential for managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and navigating life’s challenges. I help clients build resilience against burnout, compassion fatigue, and PTSD, enabling them to face adversity with strength. A key part of my practice is supporting individuals in achieving a balanced life, fostering overall well-being, and enhancing mood, self-esteem, and relationships. Through this process, I aim to create a supportive environment where clients can thrive and succeed in both their personal and professional goals.
Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked as a Paramedic/Firefighter. I earned my Master’s of Science in Education in Counseling from Old Dominion University’s CACREP-accredited program in 2009. My experience includes work in both outpatient private practice and crisis mental health services. I believe it’s crucial for both practitioners and clients to understand the scientific basis of mental health, which reduces stigma and misinformation and enhances the therapy experience.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my spouse, children, and dogs, traveling, and exploring history, sports, and music. I’m passionate about baseball, ice hockey, MMA, and running. I also play drums and percussion. You’ll often find me at sporting events, concerts, and running races, or exploring historical sites, especially those related to U.S. and World History. I’m the person who reads every sign and takes pictures at every landmark.
